A young math-lover named Chris has been working out some of the little deficiencies in my very simple equation for determining whether it's a good idea for a woman to breastfeed in a public restaurant. Andrew had pointed out some initial concerns -- what if the denominator were zero? He suggested (M-Q+1) as a fix... which is highly illogical, for obvious reasons.
Chris on the other hand has really outdone himself. A square root of the entire numerator, he claims, makes the scale more reasonable. And other alterations deal with a demoninator of zero. Really, I dunno, I had to retake basic algebra in summer school and I still don't get it, so I'm taking his word on it.
