February 22, 2004Okay, I'll confess. I voted for Nader last election, for two reasons. First, I live in New York, which will go Democrat no matter how I vote, and second, because there wasn't a woman running. (He was the next best thing on the ballot to a woman. Heh.)
As of his announcement today to run for President as an independent, I hereby revoke my vote for Nader last election. Of course I wish there were five or thirty viable parties in this country (as opposed to the tiny scuffling misguided alternative parties that we have), but there aren't. There's Big Business Super Evil and Big Business Hopefully Less Evil, and the latter absolutely has to win this election -- Bush 43 (and Cheney! Remember Cheney?) has to go. I totally understand the idealism behind wanting Nader on the ballot, but anyone who gives him their signature this year is living in a harmful fantasy world.
